New York's future leaders profiled in January 29 issue
Crain's New York Business announced the winners of its much-anticipated 2007 "40 Under 40" competition, which singles out the top rising stars in the New York City business community. This year's class hails from a diverse range of industries including media, technology, arts and culture, finance, healthcare, and real estate. A list of winners, along with a personal profile for each, appears in this week's Crain's.
Crain's New York Business has compiled the "40 Under 40" since 1988 and with each succeeding year, the competition has become increasingly intense. This year, a record number of young professionals vied for the honors.
The 2007 designees follow in the footsteps of such notable prior winners as Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam records, Jeff Zucker, CEO, NBC Universal Television Group, Kate Spade founder of designer brand Kate Spade New York, and jazz musician, Wynton Marsalis, to name a few. The Crain's editorial team closely scrutinizes each applicant, and leverages their comprehensive, multi-disciplinary knowledge of New York's business, culture and politics.
"Crain's '40 Under 40' recognizes the finest young professional leaders New York City has to offer," said Jill Kaplan, publisher of Crain's New York Business. "While only a handful of this year's winners are already household names, our experience has shown that virtually all of these designees are destined to play a critical role in guiding New York's future for decades to come."
