Americans Follow Their Stomach When Choosing a Vacation Destination

According to one recent study, 25% of all leisure travelers report that food is a key factor in deciding where to vacation. Additionally, 40% of leisure travelers also state that they travel with the purpose of educating themselves about and indulging in their destination's unique dining options.

"The survey's findings reaffirm the movement that we have seen taking place with the popularity of our cooking vacations," says Paul Schneider, Sales & Marketing Manager for go-today.com. "Due to time constraints, many people do not have time to appreciate their meals on a daily basis. Cooking vacations offer the chance to experience a new destination, immerse oneself in the local culture, and gain new culinary skills that last well beyond the duration of the trip."

Go-today.com offers the Italian Cooking Experience travel package for chefs of all skill level. This package includes roundtrip airfare to Rome, roundtrip airport transfer in Rome, 6-night accommodation in Carunchio (location of the cooking school), 2-night accommodation in Rome, transfers between cities, all meals in Carunchio, breakfast daily in Rome, hotel taxes and service charges, and airline fuel surcharges. Cooking lessons, winery tours, and daily excursions are also included. Please see package details for a full itinerary.

The survey was conducted by TIA in 2006 and was cosponsored by the National Restaurant Association. Additional culinary- and restaurant-related travel and tourism findings are included in the Association's 2007 Restaurant Industry Forecast (http://www.restaurant.org/research/forecast.cfm).
