Washington, DC Leads the Pack With Young Southern Gents Bowing To Older Women More Often Than Northern Counterparts

Mate1.com, the 15 million member intimate dating site, asked its users if they would be open to dating someone five years older or more than themselves. On average, across the US, 65% of men in their 20s, said ‘yes’ to the idea, while in comparison, only 24% of men in their 30s and 40s indicated the same.

“There’s plenty of hype about the older women’s interest in younger men, but men in their 20s are actually seeking older women,” said Liz Wasserman, co-founder of Mate1. “We refer to these guys as “Jacks”. In a deck of cards, you’ve got the young prince, or Jack, and in this scenario, he’s just entering the dating realm. He may be presumptuous, but he’s also cheeky, and a lot of mature women find that kind of confidence attractive,” added Wasserman.

Research also showed that 71% of women in their 40s and 50s were looking to date someone five years younger or more, but only 38% of women in their 20s would date someone five years their junior – the study’s real surprise showed that men in their 20s were actively pursuing women five year older or more.

In addition, it was generally young men from southern states, who were most open to an older woman as compared with their Northern counterparts. The exceptions were New York and Vermont.
