Texas Women Ventures Fund Makes Investment in The Warrior Group
TWVF Leads $2 Million Investment in Warrior to Enable This Minority, Woman-Owned Company to Capitalize on Multi-Million Dollar Contracts in the Modular Building Industry
Texas Women Ventures Fund, LP (TWVF), along with Pinnacle Minority Supplier Development Fund, LP, closed on a $2 million mezzanine, sub-debt round in March 2007. The $1 million provided by Texas Women Ventures Fund is the fund’s second investment in a woman-owned company. TWVF led the transaction and sourced the co-investor fund to participate in this round.
“The mission of TWVF is to invest in vibrant women-led businesses in Texas and the Southwest, which can benefit from both growth capital and mentoring,” stated Whitney Johns Martin, managing member of TWVF. The Urban Institute recently selected the TWVF as a Best Practice fund for providing capital to women. “The Warrior Group is an excellent portfolio company for our fund and clearly demonstrates why TWVF is deserving of being selected a national Best Practice. We are proud of our ability to source attractive investment opportunities and bring significant co-investors to the table. We also want to encourage other women entrepreneurs to consider TWVF as a resource for growing her company.”
“The Warrior Group has tremendous opportunities for growth in front of it. We expect to grow to over $100 million in revenues as we complete numerous contracts to upgrade and remodel military bases and build other government and commercial multi-purpose structures,” said Gail Warrior Lawrence, chief executive officer, chairman and owner. “To take advantage of this exciting growth opportunity, The Warrior Group needed the counsel and growth capital provided by TWVF and we are delighted to have secured TWVF as a partner in that mission.”
