Cellfire, the first nationwide mobile couponing service for cell phone users, announced that Maine residents can now get coupons to their mobile phones to save on local retail purchases and receive in-store promotions.

Cellfire partnered with four Bangor merchants to roll out its service in Maine and plans to expand the service to other cities soon. Maine consumers who download Cellfire's application to their mobile phones from www.cellfire.com/state/me will receive digital coupons for meals, entertainment, retail purchases and other promotional items from the participating Bangor merchants. The deals are redeemed at the point of sale, where the coupon is read from the phone and applied to the purchase.

Cellfire chose Bangor to launch its service in Maine because of its proximity to the University of Maine and its concentration of teens, young adults and early younger Baby Boomers.

In addition to the initial group of Bangor merchants, Cellfire offers savings from Hardee's restaurants, Domino's Pizza, magazine publisher Meredith Corp., Peet's Coffee & Tea, Hollywood Video, T.G.I.
